WE Communications Joins Bushfire PR Alliance
WE Communications has joined the Bushfire Public Relations Alliance (BPRA), as a founding member, alongside 21 local and global agencies to offer support to communities impacted by bushfires across the country.
Over the course of 2020, each agency will be partnered with areas, towns or regions that need communications support and will work with their ‘adopted’ community on a project or ongoing basis.
NSW Business Chamber, Visit Victoria and other tourism bodies will pair the agencies to enable them to provide PR and communications support to educate and inspire visitation by domestic and international audiences.
Major media organisations including News Corp Australia and Bauer Media, have also agreed to collaborate with the Alliance to storytell and provide valuable exposure to communities.
Commenting on the agency’s involvement in BPRA, Australia CEO Gemma Hudson said: “Not only are the bushfires a huge national issue but we’ve also had a number of our team’s families impacted directly, so we’re proud to be able to join forces with others in the industry, applying our skills and knowledge to truly make a difference and support the communities and businesses affected.”
In addition to joining the BPRA, WE has made a corporate donation to?Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery? while?Global CEO & Founder, Melissa Waggener Zorkin, has generously matched the company donation personally.
Many of the team have been volunteering their time to support response efforts; most recently at Bondi Surf Life Savers Club to pack much-needed supplies to be delivered to people impacted by the fires.?
Finally, WE offices around the world have been hosting ‘Dollars for Down Under’, an Australian themed fundraising lunch where WE will match all money raised. So far the fundraisers have taken place in New York, London, Seattle, Portland and Austin, with Melbourne and Sydney’s set to happen this Friday.
